LAKERS TRADE D'ANGELO RUSSELL TO NETS
On Monday, Boston announced it has dealt the No. 1 pick in Thursday's NBA Draft to Philadelphia for its No. 3 selection and a future first-round pick. And Tuesday, it was reported that the Lakers will acquire the Nets' pick at No. 27 and Brook Lopez for parting with D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov.
The Lakers reportedly made a move on Tuesday.
Los Angeles is sending D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Nets in exchange for Brook Lopez and the No. 27 pick in Thursday's draft, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Russell, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 draft who averaged 15.6 points and 4.8 assists over 63 games last season.
Mozgov is owed $48 million combined over the next three seasons.
Lopez will make about $22.6 million next year and then will become an unrestricted free agent.
The Lakers are widely expected to replace Russell by selecting Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 overall pick. The trade also gives them cap flexibility for the summer of 2018 and beyond, and they get a first-round pick. According to the report, The Lakers are also discussing a Paul George trade with the Pacers.
